… got an email from Sharon (she’s a writer).
She asked:
“I’m paid by the page – expertise and integrity don’t seem to fit into the equation. How can I shift into writing for businesses who value an experienced and conscientious professional?”
I answered:
“A key piece in shifting to being seen as an experienced professional is to specialize. The more you focus in a particular area – client, type of work, situation – the more valuable you become and the more the relationship with clients shifts from ‘What’s your fee?’ to ‘Can you help us with problem x?'”
