… received an e-mail from “Christopher McIntosh, Publisher.”

 

Yeah, I know. I have no idea who that is either.

But as I went to delete it, I accidentally clicked on it and it opened.

Turns out Chris is publisher of the Boston Business Journal, a print publication to which I subscribe – he was sending some kind of news update. I almost missed it.

Pay close attention to what is visible in the “from” field of your emails.

For solos, our name is usually more readily recognized than our company name. (For companies, like the Boston Business Journal, it’s usually the opposite.)

If your e-mail gets deleted because it’s not recognized, it’s the same as never sending it at all.
