who told me (in so many words) that my newsletters weren’t wacky enough and that I shouldn’t be concerned about being perceived as unprofessional.

I have to say, that’s the first time I’ve ever been encouraged to be more quirky.

But it’s a good example that no matter what voice/personality you decide is best, some people will always think you’re too this or too that.

Easiest, therefore, to just shoot for being yourself, as authentically as you can. No matter what you do, you won’t please everyone.
