was gifted a vanilla bean scone.

As far as I can tell, a mini vanilla bean scone is the lowest calorie, least life-shortening item on the Starbucks menu.

So when I visit once or twice a week, if I’m looking for a treat, that’s my go-to.

Occasionally, the woman who seems to be in charge will slip a second scone into the bag … just often enough that while I don’t expect it, it’s always a sugary possibility.

She never says anything, and it’s not a huge hit to the Starbucks bottom line (I just paid $2.75 for five cents worth of coffee). Nevertheless, it makes me feel recognized and eager to return.

What can you do, in your business, to help your clients feel the same?
