… was hired by a woman I’ve known for years,

but have never done work for. She called because she needed some copywriting done.

She’s brought me two clients over the years and I had lunch with her once or twice, the most recent being at least five years ago. She’s definitely moved to the outer reaches of “people I know” and even unsubscribed from my newsletter at some point.

But she’s on my “keep in touch” list, so I send her a check-in email three times a year. She’s also received a birthday card from me for the last two years and most recently, a holiday card.

And today she hired me.
